I am a visual artist, currently working in multiple mediums and media. My artistic education in photography (BFA, Concordia University, Montreal and MFA, Columbia College, Chicago) informs earlier work, and continues to provide a photo-based understructure to my process and methods. Now, my previous profession as a graphic designer (BDes, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax) comes into play in much of my new work and offers new approaches to my interests.
My working process is that of the scavenger, gatherer and taxonomist to name a few. I cull from the material world around me: nature specimens, found artifacts, detritus. These items are constantly brought to the studio: organized, responded to and worked into multiple and ongoing projects.
